Back to Work!

I hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving with your families! Here is a preview of our learning to come when we get back to work on Monday...

Math: 

11/29-12/3

We will be continuing our learning of 2-digit addition with regrouping and expanding our knowledge to 3-digit addition with regrouping. We will also be reviewing solving story problems and the many strategies we have learned. We will take our Algebra and Computation test on these skills on Friday, December 3. Please take time to review the homework this week and classwork that comes home to help your child study for their test.

12/6-12/10

We will begin the Analyzing Data and Statistics unit. We will be collecting data and organizing it into bar graphs and pictographs. We  analyze data in many ways. Important vocabulary words for this unit are: data, represent, bar graph, pictograph, analyze, table, tally marks

Science:

We are beginning our Science unit on the Moon this week! Look for a calendar that will be coming home each night to record observations of the moon phases.

 Social Studies:

We are wrapping up our first unit on communities this week. Here is a fun online game to reinforce our learning of the 7 continents!

Writing:

We will be learning the components of a friendly letter and writing many friendly letters. Check out the parts of a friendly letter here: Friendly/Business Letter Poster  *Note: In the heading on the top left, we only teach the students to write  the date

**Have some fun with friendly letters at home for the holidays! Have your child write friendly letters to their friends and family and decorate with holiday images and colors in lieu of giving a holiday card.
